I had an anxious peek at the database before typing up this report so with some relief, I can state that Salix did not achieve their lowest ever score this Sunday. (In fact we equalled our second lowest score). For this relief, much thanks as Bill the bard put it. Actually that was pretty much the only bright spot to come out of a pretty poor day. Anyway, the match '. Temporary Cap'n Ex Capn Ben won the toss and elected to bat on what we assumed would be a standard Glaxo batting wicket. Their opening bowlers proceeded to bowl an excellent line and length and move the ball in the air and off the pitch. As anyone who plays cricket at this level knows, this is in very poor taste. It also proved to be too much for our batsmen and we were in dire straits at 20 for 5 after 12 overs. Enter Lance the ringer ' 'Mate, I'm going to put my foot down the wicket and swing across the line' ' and he did and with some sterling support from Tim of the Mighties, we creaked up to the giddy heights of 59 all out.

After the batting debacle we bowled reasonably well. CK1 produced an excellent opening spell alongside Dave, Lance snaffled a couple at first change and we 'only' lost by 6 wickets just in time for tea. We played a 20 over game afterwards - guess who won! Actually it was a lot closer ' we went down by 8 or 9 runs only and Christy confirmed his new allrounder status with another good knock. And the London Pride was back on in the bar and the opposition were a very nice bunch and the sun shone most of the day so it could have been a great deal worse.
